Since the October, 2001 Mexican Supreme Court decision banning extradition when the fugitive faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, legislators, law enforcement organizations, municipal associations, and cities throughout California and the nation have responded with a call to action.  (See “Legislation” above.)  These organizations and individuals have recognized that the sovereign right to prosecute and punish for crimes committed on United States soil, according to the laws of this country, should never be compromised by a foreign jurisdiction in violation of a bilateral treaty.  Below are letters and resolutions from many of these organizations and individuals who have expressed their support for the victims of violent crimes committed by these fugitives:
