In April of 1999, suspect Perez chased his wife down in South Gate, California and shot her in the face, leaving her for dead. On August 26, 1999, the wife's father testified against the suspect in the trial for that crime. That night, a masked gunman entered the father's house in Fontana through a window and shot the father, killing him. Perez failed to appear for the trial the following day and was convicted in absentia for the South Gate shooting. Warrants have been issued for his arrest in both crimes.
